Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has suffered a major setback. Explosive batsman Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of IPL 2023 due to heel injury. The franchise gave its official information on Tuesday (April 4). RCB's coaching staff and team management have decided not to replace Patidar for the time being.
Please tell that Patidar was associated with the RCB team even before the start of IPL. There were reports that Patidar might be seen playing in the second half of the current season.
Patidar did not find any buyer in last year's mega auction. Patidar was included in the squad as a replacement for wicketkeeper Lavnith Sisodia after he was ruled out midway through the tournament.
Patidar scored 333 runs in 7 innings for RCB last season at a strike rate of 152.75. In terms of scoring runs for RCB, he was at number three after captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. Patidar scored a 49-ball century in the Eliminator match against Lucknow Super Giants, which is the fastest by an uncapped player in the IPL.
After this, Patidar also performed brilliantly in domestic cricket. Was part of the Madhya Pradesh team that won the Ranji Trophy last season.
Significantly, Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who plays for RCB, is also currently recovering from his injury. Will Jacks was also ruled out due to injury before the start of the IPL, RCB replaced him with New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell.
