Industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, although both work in the energy sector. But it also happens sometimes that both have to help each other. This time also the same happened, the government has recently made a policy that natural gas should be supplied first to those gas companies which supply CNG and PNG in the cities.
So it just happened that 41 companies joined the queue to get gas from KG-D6 natural gas reserve of Reliance Industries. Out of these only 29 were successful and one company Adani Total Gas was also there. Indian Oil Corporation was successful in getting maximum gas.
Indian Oil will get half the gas
Reliance Industries had recently invited bids for gas to be produced from the deepest area of KG-D6 block. A total of 41 companies from different sectors participated in it. But success was achieved on 29 and the biggest bid was made by the government company Indian Oil Corporation.
Indian Oil Corporation has acquired 60 lakh units (MMSCMD) of gas in e-auction, which it will continue to get for the next 5 years. This is about half of the gas produced daily from the deep region of KG-D6. Apart from this, the government company GAIL has ensured the supply of 7 lakh units, Shell 5 lakh units, GSPC 2.5 lakh units and IGS 5 lakh units.
Adani Total Gas will get 4 lakh units
In this bid, Adani Total Gas of Adani Group had bid for the supply of 4 lakh units of gas. Adani Total Gas mainly supplies gas in cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Faridabad and Khurda.
Apart from city gas distributor companies, bids were submitted by Fertilizer, Oil Refinery, Glass, Ceramics and Traders to get gas supply from KG-D6.
