Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)

The PM-Kisan scheme was launched in 2019. This is a scheme to provide income to the farmers. Under this scheme, 6000 rupees are given every year to eligible small and marginal farmers. This money is available in three installments. The objective of this scheme is to provide financial help to the farmers and improve their livelihood.

Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) Reforms

The Central Government amended the Essential Commodities Act. Through this, farmers were allowed to sell their crops outside APMC-regulated markets as well. This improved agricultural marketing. By doing this, the government aimed to create more competition, eliminate middlemen and enable farmers to get better prices for their produce.

Soil Health Card Scheme

The Modi government launched the 'Soil Health Card Scheme' in 2015. Its purpose is to give farmers detailed information about the status of nutrients present in their soil. This helps the farmers to decide about the use of fertilizers. Its biggest advantage is that the productivity of the farmer increases and the cost is reduced.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana was launched by the Modi government in 2016. This is a crop insurance scheme, which provides financial assistance to farmers in case of crop failure due to natural calamities, pests or diseases. Its objective is to reduce the risks faced by the farmers and ensure their financial stability.

E-NAM (National Agricultural Market)

In 2016, the Modi government launched the e-NAM platform, an online electronic trading portal for agricultural commodities. It facilitates transparent price discovery and creates a unified national market for agricultural produce. This gives the farmers an opportunity to connect directly with the buyers.

Agricultural Infrastructure Fund

In 2020, the Modi government announced 'Agricultural Infrastructure Fund' with a fund of one lakh crore rupees. The objective of this fund is to provide financial assistance for development of agricultural infrastructure like cold storage, processing units and godowns, enhance post-harvest management and reduce wastage.

Direct Benefit Transfer for Fertilizer

Modi government started DBT for Fertilizer in 2018. Under this, the subsidy amount is directly transferred to the bank accounts of the farmers. This helps in reducing the embezzlement of funds and ensuring that the money directly reaches the beneficiaries' accounts.

National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) Reforms

The government is working towards expanding the e-NAM platform to increase transparency, provide wider market access to farmers and enable them to get better prices for their produce. Along with this, work is also going on to integrate it with other electronic platforms.

Farmer Producer Organization (FPOs)

The government is promoting the formation and strengthening of Farmer Producer Organization (FPO). FPOs help farmers to collectively engage in activities such as input procurement, processing and marketing. Also empowering them to negotiate better terms and access markets effectively.
