Research has shown that Jamun plants, cumin, Daruharidra, Aloe vera, Fenugreek, Bael, Ginger, Neem, Amla and many other plants reduce the level of sugar in the blood. Diabetes medicines are also being made from many of these plants. In the research of AIIMS, it has been found that medicines made from these plants are proving very beneficial in diabetes patients. One of these medicines, BGR-34, is also made from the use of plants. It has been found to be very effective in the treatment of diabetes. CSIR has prepared this medicine.

It has also been found in the research that metformin, a drug made from Galega officinalis plant, is also a panacea for diabetes patients.
