IT Ministry issued advisory
The IT Ministry has issued an advisory to the Indian Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) and Manufacturers Association for Information Technology (MAIT) to show that FM radio is easily accessible during emergency situations and disasters. The motive of the advisory is not only to provide radio service to poor people but also to check that FM connectivity should be made easy for all at the time of need.
FM radio receiver is a must have feature phone
In the advisory issued by the IT Ministry, it should also be ensured that wherever the mobile phone is equipped with inbuilt FM radio receiver function or feature, that function or feature is not disabled or deactivated but is kept enabled or activated in the mobile phone. Also, it is advised that if the FM radio receiver function or feature is not available in the mobile phone then the same can be included.
Will prepare to deal with life and dangers
The IT ministry has observed a decline in mobile phones with FM radio in recent years. It has made a lot of impact on the poor people. Who rely on government to send real time information during emergency situations, disasters and calamities along with free FM radio service. The IT ministry has focused on the need for timely and reliable communication during disasters through FM-enabled mobile phones, apart from standalone radio sets and car receivers.
