New Delhi: IPS Praveen Sood has been appointed as the new director of CBI. He will replace Subodh Kumar Jaiswal. He will take charge on May 25. The committee headed by PM Modi had shortlisted three names for the CBI Chief, out of which the name of IPL Praveen Sood has been approved and appointed as the new CBI Director.
Praveen Sood has been the DGP of Karnataka. Along with him, the committee had also shortlisted the names of Madhya Pradesh DGP Sudhir Kumar Saxena and Director General of Fire Services, Civil Defense and Home Guard Taj Hasan. According to media reports, apart from Praveen Sood, two other names were discussed for the new director of CBI. But in the end, his name was approved. Apart from Praveen Sood, the names of senior IPS officers from Delhi and other states were discussed.
There was an allegation of defending the BJP government
Recently, Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar had accused Praveen Sood of defending the BJP government in the state. Shivakumar had also raised the demand for his arrest.
