Keeping in mind the irregularities going on for years in the Excise Department of Delhi, the Delhi government has decided to make all their new and old files online. Following the instructions of the Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and the LG office of Delhi, two agencies have been engaged for this work. So far, the process of making about 40 thousand files online has been expedited.
The Revenue Excise Department of the Delhi government has been in controversy for years for one reason or the other. Sometimes the files go missing, sometimes the records are tampered with. Recently, there has been a dispute between the Kejriwal government and the officials regarding the new policy in the Excise Department.
Meanwhile, after Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia went to jail regarding the policy, in the departmental inquiry, the Chief Secretary came to know about the disappearance of many files. After that, Naresh Kumar ordered to upload all the files of this department online. After almost four months of hard work, now two agencies are being engaged for this work.
Thousands of files will be uploaded
Senior sources of the government are telling that the files older than 36 years have to be made online, their number is more than 40 thousand. Which is being scanned and uploaded.
According to the sources of the Excise Department, these files are lying in different offices. Agencies have been given permission to engage dozens of personnel in handling years old files. Those who will complete this work quickly and the sales that happen every day will also be updated.
The Chief Secretary and LG's office seem very happy with this department. Because in this financial year, the revenue department has earned more than 6800 crores from liquor. Which is 300 crores more than last year's figure.
The number of alcohol drinkers in Delhi is high.
If we talk about drinking alcohol daily in Delhi, the people of Delhi drink about 17 lakh bottles. But talking about the liquor policy, the policy here is still very complicated compared to other parts of the country. The drinking age in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal is only 21 years. Whereas in states like Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, youth can buy and drink liquor only in 18 years. But the age of buying and drinking liquor in Delhi is 25 years, due to which youths either drink illegally or go to Noida Gurgaon to drink.
