The Indian Navy has successfully test-fired the powerful 'Sea Skimming' missile from its new indigenous warship INS Mormugao. The missile was successful in hitting the target in the stipulated time. Mormugao was inducted into the Indian Navy in December last year. This warship has been equipped with modern sensors and radar so that the enemy cannot escape from its sight during the operation.
After the successful test of BrahMos missile from the warship, the Indian Navy has issued a statement calling it a big success. Navy said that the missile fired from Mormugao successfully hit the supersonic target floating on the surface of the sea. It was further said that this first attempt shows the Indian Navy's commitment towards future proof combat readiness and self-reliant India.

Mormugao is named after the historical port city of Goa. It was inducted into the Navy on 19 December 2021. The day of December 19 is considered very important for Goa. 60 years ago, on this day, Goa was freed from Portuguese rule. 75 per cent of Marmugao has been manufactured in India while 25 per cent has been manufactured from outside.

Talking about the specialty of Mormugao, it is 163 meters long and its width is 17 meters and the displacement is about 7400 tonnes. According to the Indian Navy, Mormugao built in India can be counted among the most powerful warships of the army.
The warship has four powerful gas turbines through which it is run. This warship is capable of running at a speed of 30 knots. This warship has been prepared under the P-15 Bravo project. A total of four warships are being built under this project in India. In this, two Navy has been received while two are still being constructed.
