Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh has retaliated on the statement of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval , in which he said that if Netaji had been Subhash Chandra Bose, India would not have been partitioned. No one can say this for sure because by 1940 Netaji had formed the Forward Bloc. He may have an opinion on this but it is a contradictory question. The Congress leader has claimed that Doval has also joined the club of distorting facts.
Jairam Ramesh has raised four questions. He says that Ajit Doval does not speak much, but has now joined the bandwagon of sabotage. He asked, did Netaji challenge Gandhi? Of course he did. Was Netaji a Leftist? Of course he was. Was Netaji secular? With firmness and determination of course. Would partition not have happened if Netaji was alive? Who can say because by 1940 Netaji had formed the Forward Block. You can have your opinion on this but it is a contradictory question.
The Congress General Secretary said that Doval has not said one thing. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was the one who supported the partition of Bengal despite strong opposition from Netaji's elder brother Sarat Chandra Bose. I am sending Doval a copy of Rudranshu Mukherjee's excellent 2015 book Parallel Lives. He should at least see some real history.
Muslim League-Hindu Mahasabha equally responsible for split: TMC
Earlier, Doval had delivered the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Lecture, in which he had said that Netaji had the audacity to challenge Gandhi and that if he had been there, India would not have been partitioned as Jinnah had said that he would accept only one leader. Can do and that is Subhash Chandra Bose. Trinamool MP Sukhendu Shekhar Ray said that the Muslim League and the Hindu Mahasabha were equally responsible for the partition of India. The Trinamool MP wrote that even the CPI had supported the Muslim League's demand for a separate country.
