Why Bakrid is celebrated

It is believed that Hazrat Ibrahim is going to sacrifice his son at the behest of Allah. When Hazrat Ibrahim went to use the knife, Dumba was present there instead of his son and his son Hazrat Ismail was safe. Since then this day of sacrifice started being celebrated as Bakrid and Eid ul Azha.

Lucknowi and Awadhi Biryani
