Balasore Train Accident: Gas cutter, sniffer dog and crane, rescue went on like this for 14 hours to save lives


The rescue operation continued for about 14 hours. Railway spokesperson Amitabh Sharma told at around 11 am on Saturday that the rescue operation has been completed. At present, a high-level investigation team has been formed.

The whole country is immersed in grief due to the train accident in Balasore, Odisha. To speed up the rescue, the Army also took the lead and MI-17 helicopters of the Air Force were deployed. So far 261 people have lost their lives in this painful train accident. At the same time, more than 900 passengers are said to be seriously injured. In the rescue, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), fire brigade units and local police left no stone unturned to save the victims. Work was done on war footing.

According to the PTI report, the rescue personnel used gas-cutter torches and electric cutters. He worked hard all night. Meanwhile, he took out the trapped people from the bogies of three trains. At the same time, big cranes were called to unload the coaches mounted on top of each other and they were lowered. Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena told news agency ANI that nine teams of NDRF, five teams of ODRAF, 24 fire service units, local police and volunteers were deployed in the rescue.
