Cancer In Kids: Professor Dr. Rachna Seth, Department of Pediatric Oncology, AIIMS said that about 80 percent of the children who come to the hospital for cancer treatment are cured of this disease.

Cancer Survivor: 12-year-old Sniti was diagnosed with cancer just a few months after birth. It was in the eyes, which in medical language is called retinoblastoma. This cancer is more common in children below five years of age and passes from one generation to another, that is, it is a disease caused by genetic reasons. In the fourth month of her birth, Sniti was diagnosed with cancer. Sniti was treated at Delhi AIIMS and is now healthy. At the age of 12, she is now making people aware about this disease. Sniti told this information to Tv9 while narrating her story in AIIMS.

Like Sniti, 250 children who defeated cancer in AIIMS shared stories related to their lives in a program. Similarly, Vikas Jain, a resident of Delhi, was also present in AIIMS. Vikas had eye cancer in 2007. Then the age was only three years. His parents first took treatment in private hospitals, but did not get much relief. After this, treatment went on in Delhi AIIMS and after three years of treatment, he got cured. Now Vikas has turned 18 and is making people aware of cancer.

80 percent of children win the battle of cancer

Professor Dr. Rachna Seth of the Pediatric Oncology Department of AIIMS said that about 80 percent of the children who come to the hospital for cancer treatment are cured of this disease. Children have much better will power to defeat cancer and they also respond better to treatment. Every year 70 thousand children get cancer in India. Out of this, about 400 cases come to AIIMS every year. 80 percent of these children defeat this disease.

Timely recognition leads to treatment

Dr. Seth tells that if the cancer occurring in children is detected on time, then the treatment is done easily. The cases of eye cancer and blood cancer are more common in children.
