Center revised guidelines: Government's eye fell on private award, but why not on sports association and social media?

The Central Government has once again issued a guideline in this regard on 22 June. The very next day after issuing the guideline, an IAS officer of UP cadre was seen receiving an award from an NGO in Delhi.

Many IAS and IPS officers across the country remain super active in social media. Messages and photos ranging from morning tea to good night are posted. These officers publicize their official work. But the controversy starts only when they brag about themselves. They start glorifying their knowledge, food and lifestyle. It has just started raining and an IAS officer tweeted and told what kind of pakodas should be eaten in this season.

These days an IPS officer is telling how to exercise in the gym in the rain. Things are fine till Twitter and Facebook, but Instagram is on fire. If an officer's photo session is going on, then someone's song's reel is posted. The case of some officers has become such that if there is no social media then their life is useless. The case of an IPS officer is very unique. The video is posted when he goes to the office. A reel is made even after leaving the office. Even when he is on an official tour, the eyes of the camera are always on him.

Many officers are super active on social media

There are many officers across the country whose day starts with morning thoughts on social media. Some have even made their own hashtag. The story of a senior IPS officer of UP is very interesting. Public hearings were held in his office four days a week. When people used to take their complaints to him, he used to make it live on Facebook. Because of them, the then DGP of UP had to issue a social media policy. Twitter and Facebook GV even had to take action against some officials. Its effect was that some improved and the rest are still in the old form.

You must have seen and read many times that when such and such IAS officer got this honour, he got that award. Every day some or the other award show takes place in different cities of the country. The awardee officers post their photos on social media. Then begins the process of congratulations and best wishes. While according to the All India Services Rule, there is a ban on taking non-official honors. But the truth is that no one believes it.

The central government is strict about taking the award

The Central Government has once again issued a guideline in this regard on 22 June. The very next day after issuing the guideline, an IAS officer of UP cadre was seen receiving an award from an NGO in Delhi. It is being said that this time the government is very strict about the guidelines. It has been told in the guideline that permission from the concerned authority is necessary before taking the award from any private institution or organization.

These authorities are different for the officers posted in the center and the state. It has been said in the guideline that only in exceptional cases, exemption can be given to take the award. It is not allowed to take the prize money along with the award under any circumstances.

When will the guidelines for sports associations be issued?

There is a big craze among IAS and IPS officers to take up posts in sports, culture and service organizations. All the popular names of the bureaucracy are associated with one or the other sports organization. Some in athletics, some in football and some officials have kept control over the badminton organization. The officers who have never ventured into the water in their life are now involved in swimming organizations.

Such officials make and spoil the fortune of the game and the player. Such officers have also been going on foreign tours for the work of sports organizations. Will the Union Ministry of Personnel issue any guideline on this also? The need of the hour is that the central government should take some effective initiative regarding social media and sports association as well.
