Jagannath Puri of Odisha is also included in the Char Dham of Hinduism. Jagannath Puri Dham of Puri dedicated to Lord Vishnu has its own importance. Every year in the month of Ashad, a grand Rath Ratra is organized in Puri. Not only thousands but lakhs of people participate in this Rath Yatra. There is competition just to touch the rope of Lord Jagannath's chariot. It is believed that whoever pulls Lord Jagannath's chariot or touches its rope once in his life, crosses the ocean and attains salvation. But do you know why Lord Jagannath, elder brother Balram and sister Subhadra go into exile for 15 days before the Rath Yatra.

How did Lord Jagannath fall ill?

Jagannath Rath Yatra is being taken out in Puri for the last several decades. All the traditions for this Rath Yatra start on the full moon day of Jyestha month. On this day Lord Jagannath is bathed with 108 pitchers of cold water along with elder brother Balaram and sister Subhadra. The same has happened this year as well. According to belief, all the three Gods have fallen ill after taking too much bath. His treatment has been started under the supervision of the doctor. That is why all three have gone into seclusion.

How long will God remain in seclusion

He will remain in seclusion for 15 days i.e. till the afternoon of 19th June, during which no devotee will be able to visit him. Means the doors of the temple will remain closed during these 15 days. When he will be fine after 15 days, then the Rath Yatra will be taken out. That is, from June 20 this year, Jagannath Yatra will start in Puri. When Lord Jagannath is sick, his devotees who reach for darshan are shown the image of the Lord. He comes out only after getting well. Then a grand Rath Yatra is taken out.

Swami Jagannath will stay at aunt's house for 10 days

After the seclusion of God is over, he will be decorated, only then the general public will be able to see him. After this, Bhagwan along with his siblings will reach his aunt's house in Mausibari. He will stay here for 10 days. A grand fair will be organized during this time. According to the information, a grand fair of Lord Jagannath is being held for the last 333 years. This year also this fair will be held with pomp. Puri Rath Yatra is famous not only in Odisha but all over the world.

When will God give darshan to the devotees?

Lord Jagannath will appear to his devotees on June 19 in the evening after completing his retreat. After eye donation, he will be bathed and then his aarti will be performed. After this the devotees will be able to get a glimpse of their idol. The Rath Yatra will be taken out on the next day i.e. on 20th June.
