Pakistan: Youth sentenced to death on charges of blasphemy, content was shared on WhatsApp

Pakistan: A Pakistani court has sentenced a Christian boy to death on charges of blasphemy and also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him.

Lahore: A Pakistani court has sentenced a Christian youth to death for allegedly blasphemy . A fine of Rs 20,000 has also been imposed on him. The accused has been identified as Nauman Masih (19), a resident of Islami Colony, Bahawalpur . According to the police, Nauman was arrested four years ago on the basis of a complaint.

The accused had shared blasphemous material on a messaging app. Giving information about the case, an official said that the sessions court sentenced the accused to death after the prosecution presented evidence and witnesses against him. The prosecution had presented the forensic records of the cellphone. Which proved that he had shared blasphemous material through WhatsApp.

A similar case had also come to the fore from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Some witnesses were also produced in the court, who told that the accused had shared blasphemous material. However, many cases regarding blasphemy have come to the fore in the past as well. Where the accused were killed by the mob even before the legal proceedings started. Last month, on May 7, such a case came to light from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

A man was beaten to death by a mob after allegedly making blasphemous remarks here. For your information, let us tell you that Pakistan is one of those countries where there is death penalty for blasphemy. Earlier on March 24, 2023, a Muslim man in Pakistan was sentenced to death for blasphemous content on a WhatsApp group. He was convicted by a court in Peshawar under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act.
