Difference between Panchamrit and Charanamrit

Five things are mixed in Panchamrit. It is prepared for the consecration of God in Katha-Havan etc. The five things which are mixed in Panchamrit are cow's milk, curd, ghee, gangajal and sugar. Mixing all these, Panchamrit is prepared for God's abhishek and bhog. But Charanamrit is prepared by mixing Tulsi in water.

Charanamrit should be taken accordingly. It is said that Charanamrit should always be taken with the right hand only. It should always be made in a copper vessel. Perhaps this is the reason why Charanamrit is always kept in copper pots in temples.
