According to the Panchang, from today, July 18, 2023, Adhik Maas, which is considered auspicious for the worship of Lord Vishnu, is beginning. This holy month will last till 16th August. In Sanatan tradition, it is known as Malmas and Purushottam month. According to Hindu belief, any kind of religious work, such as marriage, mundan, auspicious and auspicious work like Upnayan Sanskar is completely prohibited in this Malmas. Now the question arises that in the month in which no auspicious work can be done, why worshiping Shri Hari is considered very important. Let us know in detail about the story related to it and the necessary rules etc.
When and why did Adhikamas become
According to Hindu belief, Hiranyakashyap, the king of the Asuras, after wishing to become immortal, did penance to the Supreme Father Brahma and was able to get a boon from him that he should die neither in the day nor in the night, nor in the life of humans. Be it through nor be possible through animals. Also asked for a boon that he should not die even in 12 months. After getting this boon, Hiranyakashyap declared himself God and banned the worship of Lord Vishnu. When his atrocities on the earth increased a lot, then Prahlad, an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu, was born from Shri Hari's pastimes. After this Lord Vishnu made 13th Hindu month i.e. Adhik Maas apart from 12 months. After this, he killed Hiranyakashyap by taking Narasimha avatar.
That's why it is called Purushottam month
According to Hindu belief, when no deity was ready to become its ruler in Malmas, where any auspicious work is prohibited, Lord Shri Vishnu decided to become its master. Due to association with Shri Hari, it was called Purushottam month. After this, it was considered very important to worship Lord Vishnu in Adhik Maas. Since this year Adhik Maas is falling in the month of Shravan, therefore, in this auspicious month, along with Harihar i.e. Lord Shri Vishnu, the worship of Lord Shiva will also be very important.
what is the arithmetic of more months
According to the Hindi Panchang, it takes about 28 to 29 days for the Moon to travel through the 12 zodiac signs, due to which a lunar year is of 354.36 days. On the other hand, Sun stays in one zodiac sign for 30.44 days, due to which it takes 365.28 days to complete one round of 12 zodiac signs. In this way, there is a difference of 10.92 days between the solar year and the lunar year. To correct this difference, the tradition of adding Adhik Maas every third year has been going on since mythological times. In Hindi calendar, this month always starts from Amavasya. The special thing is that even the months of Adhik Maas keep changing.
