There is a place called Sigiriya in Sri Lanka, where is Ravana's palace. It is said that there used to be thousands of stairs in this palace, yet people used to use lift to reach Ravana. The rock on which this palace was situated is huge. It is believed that Ravana's empire was spread from Badulla to Anuradhapura, Kandy, Polonnaruwa and Nuwara Eliya in central Sri Lanka. It is said that this palace was built by Kuber.
Ravana had kept Mother Sita at this place.
Sigiriya Rock is the remains of a very ancient palace on the rock top. There are fortified terraced gardens, ponds, canals, fountains here. It is said that Ravana had kept Mother Sita at this place only for a few days. Later he was shifted to another place. There are many special things about the grandeur of the palace, but the most special is the water system. Despite being at a great height, the water system of the palace was made very good. Gardens were also made here for the queens.
There was a lift to go up to the palace
There used to be about 1,000 stairs in this palace of Ravana, but there used to be a lift to go to the top.
