1st T20I: India beat Ireland by 2 runs under DLS rule, take 1-0 lead in series



India defeated Ireland by 2 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method in the first match of the three-match T20 International series. Under the Duckworth-Lewis method, India needed to score 45 runs in 6.5 overs to win the match but were 2 runs ahead. For this reason India was declared the winner. Rinku Singh and the famous Krishna made their debut for India. 

Batting first, Ireland scored 139 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Most runs from the team came off the bat of Barry McCarthy. Facing 33 balls, he played an unbeaten half-century of 51 runs with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes. Apart from him, Curtis Campher contributed 39 runs in 33 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six. McCarthy and Kampfer shared a crucial partnership of 57 (44). At one stage Ireland were 59 for 6 in 10.3 overs and they were struggling. Captain Jasprit Bumrah, Ravi Bishnoi and famous Krishna got maximum 2-2 wickets from India. Apart from him, one wicket went to the account of Arshdeep Singh. 

When India's score was 47 runs in 6.5 overs, it rained and the match had to be stopped. After this the rain did not stop and India was declared the match winner under the Duckworth-Lewis method. Gaikwad 19(16) and Sanju Samson 1(1) were at the crease at the time of stopping the match. Craig Young took the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal (24) and Tilak Verma (0) from Ireland.
