50 percent faculty and non-faculty posts are vacant in 20 AIIMS, know where and how many

There is a huge shortage of other employees including doctors in the 20 AIIMS being operated in the country. 50% faculty and non-faculty posts are vacant. This information was given by the Union Health Minister in the Lok Sabha.

There is a huge shortage of doctors and other staff in 20 AIIMS of the country. Of these, at present 50 per cent faculty and non-faculty posts are vacant. The vacant posts also include the posts of senior and junior doctors. A total of 2,161 posts are vacant out of 4,795 sanctioned posts. This information was given by the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in the Lok Sabha on Friday.

As per the released data, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bibinagar, Telangana has sanctioned 183 faculty posts. Of these, 108 were filled and 75 are lying vacant. Similarly, the sanctioned number of non-faculty employees is 971, so far only 351 posts have been filled and 620 posts are vacant.

On the other hand, 1207 posts of faculty are sanctioned in AIIMS New Delhi. Of these, 860 have been filled and 347 are lying vacant. The sanctioned strength of non-faculty employees is 12,878, but 10,447 are filled and 2431 are vacant.

AIIMS Madurai has the biggest shortage of staff

AIIMS Madurai operates with a faculty strength of 42 against the sanctioned strength of 183. 141 faculty posts and 903 non-faculty posts are lying vacant. Same is the condition of AIIMS Kalyani in West Bengal. There are 259 sanctioned posts of faculty, out of which 151 posts are vacant. At the same time, 834 posts of non-faculty are vacant, while the number of sanctioned posts are 1520.

Relaxation in age limit for recruitment

The Union Minister said that the maximum age limit for direct recruitment to the posts of Professor and Additional Professor has been increased from 50 years to 58 years to fill the vacant posts in various AIIMS. Contractual appointment of retired faculty of government medical colleges and institutes up to the age of 70 years has been allowed and centralized recruitment has been implemented for nursing cadres.
