Adobe co-founder John Warnock dies at the age of 82

John Warnock, co-founder of computer software maker Adobe, has passed away at the age of 82. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.

John Warnock dies at 82: John Warnock, co-founder of Photoshop maker Adobe, has passed away at the age of 82. The cause of his death has not been disclosed. John Warnock started Adobe in 1982 with Charles Geschke. Today Adobe is known worldwide for its computer software. The major software of the company are Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Acrobat etc.

Adobe CEO expressed grief

Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen said in an email to employees that it is a sad day for the Adobe community and the industry. He was a source of inspiration for all of us for decades. 

John Warnock retired as CEO in 2000. After this he was the chairman of the board and he shared this post with Geschke till 2017. Geschke died in 2021 at the age of 81. The two first met as co-workers at Xerox Holdings Corp. From here his friends became stronger. The duo's first product was PostScript, which helped spark the desktop publishing revolution. During Warnock's tenure, Adobe created industry standard software for business, graphic design, photography, video editing, audio recording and more, and today these software are famous around the world.

John used to do these things before the establishment of Adobe 

Prior to founding Adobe, Warnock was a principal scientist at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center. Apart from this, he also held different positions in Evans & Sutherland Computer, Computer Sciences Corp, IBM and University of Utah. Talking about education, John received a doctorate in electrical engineering, a master's in mathematics, and a bachelor's degree in mathematics and philosophy from the University of Utah. Warnock is survived by his wife, Marva, and three children.
