He was then signed by the Texas Super Kings for the first season of Major League Cricket in the United States. However, five days before the start of the league, Rayudu withdrew amid BCCI's proposal to introduce a one-year cooling-off period for retired Indian players before participating in overseas franchise leagues. The proposal is yet to be approved by the BCCI and it remains to be seen whether it will impact Rayudu's participation in the CPL.
Leg-spinner Pravin Tambe was the first Indian to play in the CPL. He was a part of the Trinbago Knight Riders team in 2020. Apart from him, two other Indian cricketers Sunny Sohal and Smit Patel have also played. If Rayudu is cleared, he will be the fourth Indian. Like IPL, he would like to leave his mark in CPL. On the women's side, this season Shreyanka Patil will also become the first Indian to feature in the Women's CPL, having been signed by the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Regarding playing in CPL, Rayudu said, "I am really excited to join St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. I am looking forward to make a positive contribution to the team in the upcoming CPL 2023." Talking about Rayudu's IPL career, the right-handed batsman has played 203 matches and scored 4348 runs at a strike rate of 127.54. During this, one century and 22 half-centuries have been seen from his bat.
