Aircraft flying on 54 routes out of 774, Central Government's cheap air travel failed! CAG report revealed

The central government's scheme 'Udaan', which provides cheap air travel, has failed. This has been revealed in the recent report of CAG audit. Along with this, it was also revealed in the report that out of 774 only 54 flights have been taken.

The central government's scheme 'Udaan', which provides cheap air travel, has failed. This is what the CAG report is saying rather than us. Yes, in the audit report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of the country ie CAG, the regional connectivity scheme has been examined in three phases. In which it was revealed that the 774 routes across the country were selected for the flight scheme. Out of them, flights have not started on 403 so far, while operations have started on 371 routes. Not only this, a total of 112 routes have been made operational so far, while most of the routes have already been closed and by March 2023, the scheme is being operated only on 54 routes.

This was the purpose

Launched in 2017, the objective of the UDAN scheme was to start air travel in remote areas of the country and connect those areas with major cities or capitals by air. So that the connectivity of small towns can be better than the big cities of the country.

In the report, the CAG has also listed several reasons for the disappointing performance of the UDAN scheme, one of the major reasons being the non-construction of airports or airstrips on time or not being able to improve them properly.

Operations did not start at 83 out of 116 airports

The CAG said in the report that there are a total of 116 airports and airstrips, out of which operations cannot be started at 83. According to the report, 1089 crore rupees have been spent on these airports so far.

The report said that the special thing is that there was a provision under the scheme that the operator would first save tickets at discounted fares and later non-subsidized tickets would be sold. spoke

The availability of seats with discounted rates is not clearly disclosed by the airlines, due to which passengers do not get information about these seats and there is a lack of transparency in ticket booking.
