Akhtar advised Virat to retire from ODI and T20, Ganguly said in response - Why?

Before the Asia Cup 2023, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has given a statement about Virat Kohli which has angered the fans on social media. Akhtar has said in his statement that after the upcoming World Cup 2023, Virat Kohli should retire from ODI and T20 format and focus only on Test cricket.

Due to his statement, the fans are trolling him, but in the meantime, former India captain Sourav Ganguly has also termed his statement as absurd and said that Virat Kohli should play every format he wants. Kohli completed 15 years in international cricket on Friday (August 18). Since making his debut in 2008, he has represented India in 111 Tests, 275 ODIs and 115 T20Is. Virat remains a key member of the team in Test and ODI formats, but has not played a T20 match since India's defeat to England in the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Recently speaking to Revsportz, Akhtar had said, "I don't think he should play more 50-over matches after this World Cup. Also, if you see him in T20, he works very hard. I feel he should play for at least six more years and break Sachin Tendulkar's record of 100 hundreds. Kohli has the ability to break this record. He should focus on Test cricket after this World Cup Should do and break this record.

When Ganguly was asked to react to the former Pakistan fast bowler's statement, he dismissed the statement saying, "Why? Virat Kohli who wants to play cricket should play. Because he is a consistent performer." This statement of Ganguly is also getting the support of the fans while Shoaib Akhtar is being trolled continuously.
