77th Independence Day has brought great happiness for all the countrymen as well as for film actor Akshay Kumar. On this special day, Akshay Kumar has told that he has got the citizenship of India. Akshay Kumar has shared a picture of a file of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Instagram, in which papers related to giving him citizenship are visible.
Significantly, about 33 years ago, in the year 1990, Akshay Kumar gave up Indian citizenship and became a Canadian citizen. At that time his films were not running here and because of work he wanted to settle in Canada. However, later his career took off and then he postponed the decision to go to Canada.
Sharing this big information, Akshay Kumar wrote on Instagram, "Heart and citizenship, both Indian. Happy Independence Day…Jai Hind. India."
Akshay Kumar himself talked about taking Canadian citizenship in an interview some time ago. He had told that when my films were not doing well, he had thought that he would go and work elsewhere. I had a friend there, he was saying come here. I thought my luck was not working here so I went there.
Akshay had said that at that time he had applied for citizenship there and got it. He had said that after that further films went on. Then I said that I will stay here, never thought again.

Akshay Kumar has been targeted for citizenship for a long time. Many times he is also trolled on social media by calling him Canada Kumar. Akshay had told in an interview some time back that he has applied for Indian citizenship in 2019 itself and will get it soon.
Akshay got double happiness
Last few days have been wonderful for Akshay Kumar. For a long time, his films were getting beaten at the box office, but his OMG 2, released along with Gadar 2, is doing great business. The film has done a business of around Rs 55 crore in just four days. After the success of the film, now Akshay has got what he was waiting for a long time i.e. Indian citizenship.
