Bharat NCAP: How cars get safety rating, new safety program implemented across the country from October 1

Car Crash Test In India:
Bharat NCAP Car Safety Test Program has been launched in the country. In the next few months, crash test of cars will start in the country. With the beginning of this program, the application of crash test of about 30 vehicles has reached the safety rating agency.

A rating system has been fixed for which car is as good as it is on the safety parameters. India has been following the Global Standard System till now. For the first time India has decided its own rating system. Road and Transport Secretary Anurag Jain told in a special conversation that India's rating system is linked to the global standard scale. For the first time, India's own rating system has started.

How are ratings determined?

There are some important points in car ratings on the basis of which the rating is given. First of all, the dummy car is physically hit. During this, the dummy car is hit from different angles and then the damage or safety is assessed. On this basis, the safety rating has been decided.

Safety of equipment fitted in the car

The rating is also decided on the basis of the safety equipment installed in the car. For example, when the dummy car was hit at a speed of 64 or 128 km, what kind of damage was done to the car. The dummy car is hit all the way from front to back. Such a hit shows the extent of damage done to the vehicle. On this basis the safety rating is decided. It is also seen whether the equipment like air bags open properly or not during the accident.

Dummy person in dummy car

A dummy adult person is made to sit in the car taken for the test and is hit. Points are decided on the basis of the injuries of the dummy adult. For example, how serious was the injury on his forehead, how much was his leg fractured. What happened to his ribs after the hit. After the dummy adult, the dummy child is made to sit in the vehicle and hit. It is also seen that how much damage the child dummy got after the hit.

Point system assessment

First the car, then the adult is made to sit in the car and then the child is made to sit in the car. After this points are decided. Then a rating is prepared by adding all the points. Five star means the safest car and zero star means it lacks a lot of safety.

What are the points of star ratings

Five star rating in children means 41 points

Four rating means 35 points

Three rating means 27 points

Two rating means 18 points

Single rating means 9 points

For adult

Five star rating in adult means 27 points

Four rating means 22 points

Three rating means 16 points

Two rating means 10 points

Single rating means 4 points

India's own standard

Anurag Jain said that the safety standard made for star rating in India is linked to the global standard. If we are saying that our standard should be followed, then it means that the global standard is also being followed.

What is the mathematical formula of rating

Anurag Jain said that it also has its own mathematical calculation. For example, it has been said in the Global Standard that if there is a front crash or a side crash, then there should not be a difference of more than 35% in their scores. It cannot happen that you strengthen your tax from only one side. The difference is that in a particular case, for example, if a model gets a score of 8.3 in a crash and another gets 13.7, then a total of 22 points will be considered as a 4 star rating. On the other hand, the second tax got 8.3 and in the second rating, instead of 13.7, it got 14, in such a situation, according to the Global Standard Cap, it will be given 3 stars.

According to the Road and Transport Secretary, this is a mathematical calculation, so we have corrected it in our system. We solved the mathematical equation and saw that if the number comes on 8.2, then if the total is 22 in the crash on both sides, then take 8.2, then it can be given a rank of 4 stars.

All the makers applied

Anurag Jain said that this entire process has been linked with the global standard. In such a situation, all the automobile companies in India have welcomed this program tremendously. All the car manufacturers have already started their applications and applications for more than 30 models have come to us so far.
