Box office rich with Bollywood films, is there a danger looming over OTT?

Gadar 2 has breathed life into a single theatre. Not only Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2' but Akshay Kumar's film 'Oh My God 2' and Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt's love story 'Rocky Aur Rani' have also done a lot of business at the box office.

About a month ago, many big filmmakers had to wait for a 'yes' from digital platforms to release their flop films on OTT, which could not do anything special at the box office, but now 'Gadar 2', ' After the success of 'OMG 2' and 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani', 'Picture' has completely changed. Along with these three films, Rajinikanth's jailer did a business of more than 390 crores at the box office during August 11 to 13, that is, in just three days. After the theater has returned again, the question is now being asked whether OTT is in danger due to people going to theatres?

Actually, 8 weeks time was fixed between the theater and OTT release of any film, but even today many films like Kapil Sharma's Zwigato have to wait to be released on OTT. It has been more than 5 months since the release of these films, but seeing the new look of the box office, it seems that now it is the turn of OTT platforms to wait.

Will OTT be at a loss?

A source close to the famous OTT platform Prime Video told TV9 Hindi Digital that of course, everyone waits for the release of big theatrical films on OTT, but delay in the OTT release of these films will not make much difference to the people. Apart from these films, there is a variety of national, international and original content available on international OTT platforms like Prime Video, which has its own special fanbase.

One time subscription

Sources associated with Amazon said, “Even today, one has to spend 100 to 1000 rupees to watch a movie in the theater, but on the OTT platform, a year-long subscription comes for 600 to 1000 rupees, and in this subscription, people can watch their favorite movies. Can watch movies and unlimited content many times.

Two different types of films are being made

In fact, after Corona, now two types of films have started being made in the film industry. While films like Gangubai, Pathan, OMG 2 and Gadar 2 were made for theatres, films like Akshay Kumar 's Kathputli, Yami Gautam's Chor Nikal Kar Bhaga, Varun Dhawan's Baawal were made for OTT. Even though this concept is new to the Indian film industry, but about 10 years ago, such films started being made in Hollywood.

People prefer to watch movies on OTT despite watching them on theaters

Apart from mobile phones, people are now enjoying OTT on their smart TVs as well. People are watching movies at home with family and friends, due to which people's time is being saved along with money. Even today people like to watch many films from Awara to Raja Hindustani, Hera Pheri on OTT. This is the reason that the success of the box office will not have much effect on the business of OTT. Although the bumper earnings of the last few films indicate that people are still preferring to go to theaters to fully enjoy the films.
