BRICS Summit 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (24 August) participated in a joint press conference with all the member leaders during the 15th BRICS Summit and interacted with them. Before the start of the conference, PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping were seen having a brief conversation.

News agency ANI has shared a video, in which both the leaders can be seen talking. Earlier, both the leaders were expected to come together in the BRICS Business Forum meeting. However, Xi Jinping did not attend the meeting. He sent China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao in his place. This meeting was addressed by PM Modi.

Both the leaders were seen on the stage of SCO

Earlier both the leaders were seen on a stage at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan in 2022. Even at that time there was no bilateral conversation between the two leaders. However, this meeting took place in the midst of efforts to resolve the dispute at the Gogra friction point.

Tension between the two countries for three years

Let us tell you that the relations between the two countries have deteriorated due to the ongoing tension on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) for the last 3 years. Both sides have held 19 rounds of talks since 2020 to resolve the border issues in eastern Ladakh, but no solution could be found.
