Bumrah can become the vice-captain of the Indian team for Asia Cup 2023

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to announce its 17-member squad for the 50-over Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023. Just a day before the team announcement, reports are surfacing that Jasprit Bumrah is all set to replace Hardik Pandya as the vice-captain. And Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian team.

According to a report, Hardik is ready to replace Pandya with Jasprit Bumrah as the vice-captain of the team. Bumrah is currently captaining the Indian team in the three-match Ireland series. At the same time, Hardik captained the Indian team in the five-match T20 International series against the West Indies, in which they lost 3–2.

Regarding making Bumrah the vice-captain, the BCCI source said, "If you see in terms of leadership seniority, Bumrah is ahead of Pandya because he captained the Test team in 2022. He was also on the ODI tour of South Africa before Pandya." Has been the ODI vice-captain. Don't be surprised if Bumrah is made the ODI vice-captain for Rohit for both the Asia Cup and the World Cup."

The Men in Blue will begin their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against Pakistan on September 2 at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy, while they will start their ODI World Cup campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. At the same time today, under the captaincy of Bumrah, the Indian team will play the second T20 International match against Ireland. They would like to win this match and capture the series.

India's squad against Ireland: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rituraj Gaikwad, Tilak Verma, Sanju Samson (wk), Rinku Singh, Shivam Dubey, Washington Sundar, Famous Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah (c), Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Jitesh Sharma, Mukesh Kumar, Shahbaz Ahmed.
