Despite this, tomato is not able to reach even close to its old price two months ago. Even now, tomatoes are being sold for Rs 150 to 180 a kg in many cities. However, tomatoes have become somewhat cheaper in many cities.
Right now the cheapest tomato is being sold in Assam in the country. The price of one kilo of tomatoes in Barpeta here is Rs.40. In such a situation, people from nearby districts are also coming here to buy tomatoes. At the same time, after Barpeta, the cheapest tomatoes are being sold in Ropar, Punjab. Here the cost of one kg tomato is Rs 41. However, in Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab, tomatoes are still available at Rs 140 per kg. The special thing is that the most expensive tomato was sold here in the month of July. Then the price of one kg of tomato had become Rs.350.
Tomato is being sold at Rs 167 a kg in Jammu.
At the same time, Jammu and Kashmir is at the third place in terms of cheap tomatoes. In its capital Srinagar, the price of one kg tomato is Rs 63. In such a situation, people from nearby cities and towns are also coming to Srinagar to buy tomatoes. The special thing is that there is a huge difference in the prices of tomatoes in the same state. At the same time, tomatoes are being sold at Rs 167 per kg in Jammu. However, the rate of tomato in Kupwara is very less as compared to Jammu. Here tomato is being sold at Rs.92 per kg.
The rate of tomato in Delhi is only Rs 140 per kg.
After Srinagar, the cheapest tomatoes are being sold in Panchkula, Haryana. Here the price of one kg tomato is Rs.90. Traders here say that the price of tomatoes will fall further in the coming days. However, the rate of tomato is not the same in all the districts of Haryana. According to the website of the Department of Consumer Affairs, the rate of one kg tomato in Haryana's Gurugram is Rs 140. Whereas, the rate of tomato in Delhi is only Rs 140 per kg.
