Chris Jordan replaces injured Josh Tongue for T20I series against New Zealand

England fast bowler Josh Tongue has been ruled out of England's upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has included fast bowling all-rounder Chris Jordan in the 15-man squad in his place. The 25-year-old Tung was set to feature in England's white-ball matches for the first time since playing Tests against Ireland and Australia in the home summer. The right-arm fast bowler took 10 wickets in two Test matches, impressing everyone with his pace and movement.

He has now been ruled out of the T20Is against New Zealand due to injury along with fellow uncapped bowler John Turner. Jordan is England's leading wicket-taker in T20Is with 96 wickets in 87 matches. England will begin the four-match T20I series with the opening match against New Zealand at Chester-le-Street from Wednesday. After this there will be matches in Manchester, Birmingham and Nottingham on 1, 3 and 5 September.

The ECB also said that left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone will miss the upcoming season of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia after dislocating her right shoulder. The 24-year-old Sophie injured her shoulder while training for Manchester Originals' last match of The Hundred on Wednesday.

"He was helped off the field at Old Trafford and taken to hospital for further scans of the injured shoulder," the ECB said. "Ecclestone's right shoulder is dislocated. Following scans and evaluation, she will miss the Women's Big Bash League. ,

Sophie, the top-order bowler in ODIs and T20Is, has already been rested for England's upcoming T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka, starting on August 31, with no timeframe available for her return to the game.
