While art director Nitin Desai was in Kochi, he had a heart attack. Is a heart attack different from a cardiac arrest?
Difference between cardiac arrest and heart attack
According to the news published in India TV, both cardiac arrest and heart attack are not the same thing. Actually, cardiac arrest means stopping the heartbeat. On the other hand, in a heart attack, there are blockages in the veins of the heart. Due to which there is severe pain in the chest. In heart attack, the heart keeps on beating whereas in cardiac arrest, the heart stops working. Cardiac arrest is caused by an electrical abnormality of the heart. Heart attack occurs due to blockage in the heart when the right amount of blood does not reach the heart. Death often occurs from cardiac arrest and not from heart attack.
Meaning of cardiac arrest while sleeping
Cardiac arrest while sleeping means that the electrical abnormality of the heart is not working properly. This clearly means that the electrical system of the heart is not working properly. That is, it stops working. All these can happen due to cardiac arrest while sleeping. Long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy can increase the risk of sudden cardiac arrest. Due to the weakening of the heart muscle, genetic heart disease can also cause it, causing electrical abnormalities in the heart from birth.
