Death toll due to disaster in Himachal reached 74, know how the situation is now


The process of death of people due to natural calamity in Himachal Pradesh is continuing. 
The death toll in rain-related incidents has risen to 74 on Thursday. At the same time, there is also a possibility of many other people being buried under the debris of collapsed houses etc. in the landslide. 

Two killed in Chamba

According to Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, rescue personnel retrieved the body of PL Sharma, head of the Department of Mathematics, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, at the Summer Hill landslide site. Apart from this, two rain-related deaths have also been reported in Chamba district. 21 people have died due to landslides in Shiv Mandir located in Summer Hill and Fagli and Krishna Nagar. 

Rain has reduced
In Himachal, since last Tuesday, there has been less rain. Army, Air Force and other rescue personnel have evacuated 309 people from Pong Dam in Fatehpur and Indora in flood-hit Kangra district. Rescue personnel have evacuated 2074 people from these areas in the last three days. According to officials, 875 roads are still blocked in the state and 1,135 transformers and 285 water supply schemes have been disrupted.

7,500 crore loss
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu also visited the flood affected areas on Thursday and met the people there. He assured the people of all possible help from the government. According to CM Sukhu, it may take one year for the state to recover the loss caused by this disaster. According to Principal Secretary (Revenue) Onkar Chand Sharma, the state has suffered a loss of around Rs 7,500 crore due to the disaster.
