Did Rakhi save Sikandar's life when he set out to conquer the world?

When Alexander the Great i.e. Alexander went out to conquer the world, he had a tough fight with King Porus on the Indian subcontinent. It is said that at that time Alexander's wife had sent Rakhi to King Porus and urged him not to take Alexander's life.

For centuries, sisters have been tying Rakshasutra on the brother's wrist on Raksha Bandhan. There is a mention in mythological texts that how Draupadi tied Lord Krishna's defense thread and took assurance of help when the time came. The beginning of Rakshabandhan festival in modern India is believed to be from the Indus Valley Civilization i.e. about 5500 years ago. It is also said that when Alexander i.e. Sikandar went out to conquer the world, his life was saved by Rakhi on the Indian sub-continent.

Alexander was a Greek warrior of the Kingdom of Macedonia who later became king and by the time of his death he had captured half of the land recorded in Greek history. From today in 356 BC, he had come out with the dream of conquering the world, after conquering many areas like Egypt, Iran, Mesopotamia, Phoenicia, when he reached the Indian subcontinent, he encountered King Porus here.

What is the story related to Rakhi

When Alexander reached the Indian subcontinent after conquering the world, he encountered King Porus. Here a fierce war started between the two on the banks of Jhelum and Chenab river. It is said that there were more than 50 thousand soldiers in Alexander's army at that time, but the bravery of King Porus and his Gaj Sena were no less. After the war went on for a few days, when the news reached Alexander's wife that King Porus could win over Alexander, she sent Rakhi to King Porus and sought his blessings to spare her husband Alexander alive. It is said that keeping the honor of that rakhi, Porus did not make a fatal attack on Alexander. There are two opinions among historians regarding this fact, some historians consider it true and some give it the name of legend.

Who won the war?

There was a fierce battle between Alexander and Porus on the banks of the Jhelum and Chenab rivers. In history it is also known as Battle of the Hydaspes. There are also different arguments about who won in this, in fact, Greek historians call Alexander victorious in this war, while other historians deny it, EAW Baij, who edited Ethiopian epics, mentioned in the book written on Alexander That Alexander had suffered a lot in the battle of Jhelum. After this, Alexander realized that if he continues the war, he will destroy himself. That's why he had made a treaty with King Porus.

Mention of Humayun and Rani Karnavati

In the era of Mughals, the beginning of Raksha Bandhan is believed to be from the era of Humayun. It is said that when Sultan Bahadur Shah of Gujarat had attacked Chittorgarh, then Rani Karnavati had sought help by sending Rakhi to Humayun. At that time Humayun was in Gwalior. After receiving Rakhi, Humayun gathered the forces and by the time he reached Chittorgarh, Rani Karnavati had committed Jauhar along with other women. After this Humayun fought a war with Bahadur Shah, in which Bahadur Shah was defeated.
