Rs 103 crore has been given as compensation to farmers in Patiala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Pathankot, Ropar, Moga, Mohali and Sangrur districts. It is being said that many villages in these districts are still submerged in water.

This year, many states of the country have received less than average rainfall so far. But this time in Punjab, God Indra rained heavily. Due to this, a flood-like situation had arisen in many districts. Even the cities were waterlogged. Due to this the general public had to suffer a lot. The special thing is that most of the farmers in Punjab have suffered losses due to excessive rains. The paddy crop grown in lakhs of hectares was destroyed. In such a situation, the farmers had to sow paddy again. But now the Punjab government has taken a big decision in the interest of the farmers.

The Punjab government has announced compensation to the farmers for crop loss. Chief Minister Hemant Mann's government has said that farmers will be given compensation at the rate of Rs 6,800 per acre. For this, the government has also released an amount of Rs 86 crore. Soon the compensation amount will be transferred to the farmers' account. However, in the month of July, the government released Rs 103 crore as compensation in the farmers' account.

New crop of paddy planted in 6.25 lakh acres submerged

According to statistics, in the month of July, Punjab has received 44 percent more rainfall than the average. Especially Faridkot in Punjab received 256.2 mm and Mohali received 472.6 mm more rain. Similarly, 71 percent and 107 percent excess rainfall was recorded in Patiala and Rupnagar respectively. Whereas, during the month of July, Tarn Taran received 151 per cent more rains and Jalandhar received 34 per cent more rains. Due to this, a flood-like situation arose in these districts, due to which the new crop of paddy planted in 6.25 lakh acres got submerged. In such a situation, the farmers had to replant paddy in 2.75 lakh acres.

No help yet

Let us tell you that even during the Rabi season, unseasonal rains had caused huge devastation in Punjab. Then the wheat crop planted in thousands of hectares was destroyed due to rain and hailstorm. Then the government had promised to give compensation to the farmers in lieu of crop loss. But the farmers have not received any help yet.
