The government has informed about this by writing a letter to the states. Now the state cannot forbid citizens to work without Aadhaar number. It is believed that the government can extend this deadline even beyond 31 December.

In Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, APBS is being used since 2017. The central government has also decided to expand APBS. Payment will go through APBS only to the APBS linked account. This means that it is a safe and fast method of payment transfer.
According to the information, at present there are a total of 14.33 crore active beneficiaries. Out of which 13.97 crore are linked to Aadhaar. Out of these, 13.34 crore Aadhars have been found authentic. Apart from this, 81.89 percent active employees are eligible for APBS. In July 2023, about 88.51 percent of the salary has been paid through APBS.
