Gurugram: Two snake charmers have been arrested in Haryana's Gurugram for robbing people in the guise of a monk and threatening them with snakes. The police gave this information on Monday. Police said the two men looted several people at a traffic signal by releasing snakes on them in cars or auto-rickshaws. Police recovered two snakes from their possession and handed them over to the Wildlife Department.
Rohit Nath, 22, and Shakib Nath, 26, were produced before a city court on Saturday which remanded them in judicial custody, police said. The matter came to light when 36-year-old Sadia Wani lodged a complaint at the Sector-53 police station, alleging that two men disguised as sadhus let loose a snake on her and robbed her of Rs 2,000.

According to her complaint, the incident took place around 10.30 am on Friday when she was going somewhere in an auto-rickshaw. "The suspects used to come to Gurugram from Delhi and return after robbing commuters at various places in the city by showing them snakes," said Rajendra Singh, SHO of Sector-53 police station.
