Hisar: A court in Hisar in Haryana on Tuesday sentenced a 50-year-old man to 25 years in prison for raping his minor daughter in 2018. Rajesh Kumar Mehta, additional sessions judge of the fast track court, pronounced the verdict. He also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the convict. According to Deputy District Attorney Narendra Kumar, the court had convicted the man on August 19 and fixed Tuesday as the day for sentencing.
According to the prosecution, the victim had stated in her complaint that at the time of the incident, she was 15 years old and studying in class 11. She said that her father used to drink and fight with her mother, because of which her mother left home and lived with her parents in Rajasthan.
In the complaint, the victim alleged that on June 11, 2018, her father raped her under the influence of alcohol. According to the prosecution, one day the girl had a stomach ache, after which she came to know that she was pregnant. After this, she was forcibly given abortion pills.
According to the prosecution, one day when the girl's mother returned, the victim told her about the incident, following which she reached the police station and got a case registered against her father.
Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses POCSO Act.
