Here postmortem is done without touching the dead body, it takes only so many minutes

Virtual Postmortem: Postmortem is done to find out the cause of death. In this process, the dead body is examined by making a big incision in the body. The post-mortem takes up to three hours, but in a big hospital in the country, the post-mortem is done without any incision.

When a person dies in an accident or any other accident, the post-mortem of the dead body is done to know the cause of death. In this process, the internal organs are also examined by tearing apart the body. From this it is known that due to which the death of the person has happened. Postmortem is also called autopsy in medical language. In postmortem, a big incision is made in the body. This whole process takes up to three hours, but do you know that there is a place in the country where post mortem is done without incision. Not even a needle is put on the body and the autopsy of the deceased is done. Correct information about the causes of death is also available. Yes, this happens in the forensic department of Delhi AIIMS.

With the help of this technique, post mortem is done in just half an hour. There is no need to make any incision on the body, nor any part of the dead body is torn apart. According to Dr. Sudhir Gupta, HOD of the Forensic Department of AIIMS, this technique is called virtual autopsy. In this, a complete examination of the dead body is done with a scan machine.

In this post mortem is done without tearing. The body is scanned with hi-tech X-ray and MRI machines and the cause of death is known. In this process post mortem is done without touching the dead body. From a minor injury to a minor fracture in the body, it is detected. Through this process, consent is also given to the family members of the deceased in getting the post-mortem done. Within no time the cause of death is known.

Radiological process

Virtual autopsy is a radiologic process. It also detects those injuries and blood clots which are not visible to the naked eye. In this process, the dead body is kept in front of the machine. The machine scans the body for half an hour and gets information about the internal organs. During this scanning, the doctor constantly monitors the machine and collects all the information by examining it.

It is used only in AIIMS in Asia.

This virtual technique is used only in AIIMS in Asia. ICMR and AIIMS together started virtual autopsy technology. Till now the post mortem of many dead has been done through this process. Many years ago it was decided to start this technique in AIIMS. ICMR had released a fund of five crores for this. At present, the facility of virtual autopsy is available only in AIIMS. The government plans to start it in other hospitals as well.
