IIT Bombay received a donation of 160 crores, but who is going to give it? Learn

In NIRF Ranking 2023, IIT Bombay's name is at number three in the list of top engineering colleges in India. At the same time, in the QS World Ranking 2023-24, it is ranked 149th at the world level.

IIT Bombay is once again in discussion regarding the amount received in donation. This time the institute has received a donation of 1.8 million dollars i.e. about 160 crores in Indian rupees. The special thing is that this time the donation has been received from an unknown person. IIT Bombay Director Professor Subhasish Chowdhary has given information about this. He told that the unknown donor is an alumnus of the institute.

The name of IIT Bombay is at the third place in the list of top engineering colleges in India. On the other hand, in terms of world wide performance, IIT Bombay has got rank 149 in the QS World University Rankings 2023-24. This institute, which is on top for its campus placements and faculty, is now in the news for donations.

Donations received by IIT Bombay

IIT Bombay Director Professor Subhasis Chowdhary said that this is a unique event in the Indian education world, when someone anonymous has donated an amount of 160 crores. He told that this amount is for the establishment of Green Energy and Sustainability Research Hub. Professor Chaudhary of IIT Bombay said that the establishment of this hub has been prepared by us to deal with the challenges arising in the climate with the help of modern technology.

Nandan Nilekani had donated

Recently Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani also donated Rs 315 crore to IIT Bombay. Nandan Nilekani is an alumnus of IIT Bombay. He has obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering from here. He has passed out from here in the year 1973.

He made this donation on completion of 50 years of joining IIT Bombay. In this regard, the MoU was signed by Director Professor Subhasis Chowdhary and Nandan Nilekani in Bengaluru. Please tell that this is the biggest amount ever received in charity. Earlier, Nilekani had donated Rs 85 crore to IIT Bombay. So far he has donated 400 crores.
