New Delhi: Delhi Police has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure around areas like Rajghat, ITO and Red Fort in view of Independence Day. Taking to Twitter, the police said, "In view of the Independence Day celebrations, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been imposed in areas around Rajghat, ITO, Red Fort." No gathering of people is allowed in these areas.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on Independence Day on August 15 from the Red Fort.
Paragliders, drones banned till August 16
Earlier, Delhi Police has banned flying of paragliders, 'hang-gliders' and 'hot air balloons' in the skies of the national capital till August 16 for security reasons in view of Independence Day. Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora had issued an order in this regard before the Independence Day celebrations on August 15. The order said that information has been received that criminals, anti-social elements or anti-India terrorists may use paragliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), remotely piloted aircrafts, hot air balloons, small powered aircraft or aircraft. Can pose a threat to the safety of common people, dignitaries and important establishments through para-jumping etc.
Therefore, the Commissioner of Delhi Police has prohibited the flying of such objects in the national capital on the occasion of Independence Day and any violation of the same would attract Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code, the order said.
