Jashn-e-Azadi: Tricolor will be hoisted for the first time after independence in 6 villages of Chhattisgarh, know the reason

Chhattisgarh: Sukma and Bijapur are among the seven districts of Bastar division which have been facing the threat of Naxal insurgency for the last three decades. The national flag will be hoisted today for the first time after the country's independence in six remote villages of Naxal-affected Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, police said on Monday. He said that setting up of new camps by the security forces near these villages is paving the way for development here.

Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P told PTI, "The tricolor flag will be hoisted for the first time today at Chinnagelur, Timenar and Hiroli villages in Bijapur district and Bedre, Dubbamarka and Tondamarka villages in Sukma district on Tuesday. Such an event has not been seen since."

The enthusiasm is at its peak in all the villages regarding Independence Day.

Apart from this, Independence Day will also be celebrated for the first time today in Pidmel, Dubbakonta, Silger and Kunded villages of Sukma district, where the tricolor was hoisted for the first time on Republic Day (January 26) this year, he said.

"Establishment of new camps near these villages has pushed the Maoists on the backfoot. As a result, incidents of hoisting black flags by them (on Independence and Republic Day) are no longer happening. Now the tricolor will be hoisted in these areas," the official said. The enthusiasm and patriotism of the people here is at its peak.

He said that the establishment of new camps has helped the government welfare schemes to reach the people, mainly tribals, and has also paved the way for development in these areas.

CM Baghel will hoist the tricolor

A government public relations officer here said Sukma and Bijapur are among the seven districts of Bastar division which have been facing the threat of left-wing extremism for the last three decades. Meanwhile, the state government has completed preparations for Independence Day celebrations in all the districts including capital Raipur. He informed that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will unfurl the tricolor at the Police Parade Ground in Raipur in the morning and will receive a guard of honor by various contingents of security personnel.
