LPL 2023: Captain Hasaranga shines in Kandy's victory, will face Dambulla in the final

Captain Wanindu Hasaranga's all-round performance helped B-Luv Candy beat Galle Titans by 34 runs in Qualifier 2 of the Lanka Premier League 2023. With this win, Candy made it to the finals. They will face Dambulla Aura in the final tomorrow. In Qualifier 2, Kandy won the toss and elected to bat. This is the first time that an associate team has defeated New Zealand in international cricket. All 12 Full Members now have at least one loss against an Associate team. 

B-Luv Candy, batting first, scored 137 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Wanindu Hasaranga scored maximum 48(30) runs from the team. In this innings, he hit 3 fours and 4 sixes. Apart from him, Dinesh Chandimal scored 38 runs in 37 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six. Sonal Dinusha and Dasun Shanaka claimed maximum 2-2 wickets each for Galle Titans. Kasun Rajitha and Tabrez Shamsi got one wicket each. 

Chasing the target, Galle Titans could only manage 123 runs on the scoreboard after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Sonal Dinusha scored maximum runs for the team. He contributed 28 runs in 32 balls with the help of a six. Apart from him, opener Liton Das contributed 25 (19) runs in 19 balls with the help of 4 fours. Mohammad Hasnain, Chaturanga de Silva and captain Wanindu Hasaranga took maximum 2-2 wickets from B-Luv Candy. Sahan Arachige was also successful in taking one wicket.
