Mughal History: If I took a left step forward, I used to return the wrong foot, the story of that Mughal emperor who used to cover

In the Mughal history, the rulers who took over the throne had decided the rules of the court according to their own. One of these Mughal emperors was such that he used to decide whether to meet him or not by the steps of the person coming to the court. If the steps were wrong, then the king used to return that person on the wrong foot.

In the Mughal history, there was an emperor who used to wear purdah, his court had a separate discipline of its own. That emperor used to decide whether he would meet him or not by looking at the footsteps of every visitor. The person who is coming to meet, if his steps did not fall properly in the court, then the emperor used to return him on the wrong foot. It is said that this Mughal emperor used to believe in Najumi i.e. astrology so much that he used to wear clothes according to it.

It was Humayun, the Mughal emperor who developed the methods of the court during his reign, just four years after the establishment of the Mughal Empire in India, after the death of Walid Babur, Humayun took over the Mughal Sultanate. Humayun, who became the emperor at the age of 23, created his own style of court and followed them throughout his life.

Humayun used to cover

It is said about the Mughal emperor Humayun that he used to wear purdah. Actually it was a curtain court in a way. It was started by Humayun. Historians argue that it was suitable for security between the emperor and the administration. Humayun used to interact with the people in the curtain court only. Without the curtain, he used to meet only selected people. After Humayun, Akbar also followed the curtain court for a few days. Later it was abolished.

Believe in najumis

Humayun used to believe in Najumi i.e. the movement of the planets. He was attracted towards astrology. Even he had fixed his routine and dress on the basis of astrology. According to historian Lenpul, Humayun had fixed different colored clothes for the seven days of the week. He used to wear these clothes according to the day. His hand was also full of rings. It is said that Humayun's father Babur also followed the advice of Najumis during his reign. Humayun also took it forward.

He used to decide whom to meet and whom to return by looking at his steps.

Another interesting fact about Humayun is that Humayun used to decide whether to meet him or not by looking at the steps of the visitor to the court. If a person used to put his left foot first in the court, he would immediately get that person out of the court and would say that while entering the court, the right foot should be kept first. Some historians describe this habit of Humayun as the protocol of the court. According to him, to maintain the discipline of the court, any person was allowed to go to the emperor only with very precise steps. If the steps were not right then Humayun himself refused to meet that person.

Such was early life

Humayun was born on 6 March 1508 in Kabul. After birth, Babur named him Humayun Naseeruddin Muhammad. Later he came to be called Humayun, which means fortunate. Babur used to believe that only after the birth of Humayun, his days changed. Babur had made Humayun the governor of Badakhsha at the age of 12. The result of this was that when Humayun faced Hamid Khan at the age of 18, he defeated him with his skills. After Babur's death, he was coronated at the age of just 23.
