How to worship Nag Devta

- On the day of Nag Panchami, after taking bath and meditation in the morning, wearing clean clothes, one should go to the temple of a snake deity for darshan and worship. If you are not able to do this due to any reason, then you can make a picture of the snake god with flour or black sketch on the wall and worship it at the main door of your house.

- Before worshiping snake, keep a copper vessel with water and milk in a steel or silver vessel along with the worship material. After this, meditate on the snake god by taking a little Akshat and water in your hand and take a pledge to do the fast and worship related to him according to the rules and regulations.

- After this, bathe the serpent deity first with water, then with milk and once again with water. After this, while offering roli, sandalwood, akshat, flowers etc. to Nag Devta, chant the mantra of Nag Devta or recite Nag Stotra.

- On the day of Nag Panchami, if possible, offer silver snake-serpent pairs to Lord Shiva and let them flow in some flowing water. It is believed that by doing this remedy, all the defects including Kalsarp of the Kundli are removed.

Religious Significance of Snake Worship

Snake worship has a lot of importance in Hinduism. In the form of Sheshnag, where the snake god keeps the whole earth on his head and remains as a canopy for Lord Vishnu all the time, while Lord Shiva becomes the garland around his neck and does not allow the halal poison stuck in his neck to fall down.
