There is very good news for MBA students. Union Ministry of Education has given IIM status to another institute. With this, the number of IIMs in the country has gone up to 21. Mumbai's National Institute of Industrial Engineering has been given IIM status. The existing students studying here will get IIM degree from now on. Here for the next session i.e. 2024-26 batch, MBA admission through CAT will start.
Presently around 1200 students are studying in this institute. The institute has started work on the target of doubling this number next year. National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai is already included in the list of prestigious institutes. It is ranked seventh in the business school category in the NIRF 2023 ranking.
The institute is located near Vihar Lake in Powai area of Mumbai. It was established in the year 1963 by the Central Government. It was started with the help of the United Nations Development Program on the initiative of the Government of India. Its objective was to prepare skilled professionals through the International Labor Organization, on which this institute has fully lived up to. For the new change, the Central Government introduced the Indian Institute of Management (Amendment) Bill 2023 in this monsoon session, which has also got approval from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

What is the pattern of CAT exam?
The exam will be conducted online in English language. Total 66 questions will be asked and the time will be of two hours. The registration process starts from 2nd August. To appear in the exam, the general category must have passed UG with 50% marks and other category candidates must have 45% marks.
