Now now the Indian Medical Association ie IMA has also raised questions on this rule of NMC. In one of its statements, the IMA has demanded the withdrawal of this rule. The IMA has said that less than 1 percent of the drugs manufactured in India are tested for quality. In such a situation, patients can be harmed by not prescribing branded medicine.

The IMA has said that when doctors cannot prescribe branded medicines, then why should they be given a license to manufacture these medicines. There is still uncertainty about the quality of generic medicines. Their quality is not up to standard. In such a situation, if the quality of the medicine is not according to the standards, then it can be harmful to give it to the patients. IMA has said that NMC should not implement such rules.

Attention will have to be paid on the quality of generic drugs

According to the IMA, if generic medicines are to be promoted, then their quality will also have to be taken care of. For this, there is a need to ensure one drug, one quality and one price. NMC will have to take steps to implement this. At present, the new rule that has been made has many flaws, which need to be removed.
