"No regrets" - veteran Indian player reacts to his name not being included in ODI World Cup plans

Team India's veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has spoken a lot about his selection in the ODI World Cup (ICC Cricket World Cup 2023). Ashwin has said that he has no regrets about not being involved in the plans for the upcoming ODI World Cup. At the same time, he has also said that he will not think about those things which are not in his hands.

Ashwin is a regular member of the Indian Test team, but he has not been a part of the ODI team for a long time. The No. 1 bowler in the ICC Test rankings played his last ODI against South Africa in January last year.

Not thinking of ODI World Cup being in 2023 plans: Ravichandran Ashwin

In a conversation with The Times of India, the senior player said that he does not think about things which are not in his hands. Ashwin said,

I don't think so because team selection is not my job. I decided long ago not to think about things that are not in my hands. I am in a really great place in terms of life and cricket and I try to keep negativity out of my thought process.

Despite not being in the running for a place in the tournament, Ashwin said he was hoping that India would win the World Cup again. They said,

I live for the day and I have no unfinished business. But it is true that I want India to win the World Cup again whether I am playing or not.

If we look at Ashwin's ODI career, then this tremendous off-spinner has taken 151 wickets at an average of 33.49 in the 113 matches he has played so far.
