Ashwin is a regular member of the Indian Test team, but he has not been a part of the ODI team for a long time. The No. 1 bowler in the ICC Test rankings played his last ODI against South Africa in January last year.
Not thinking of ODI World Cup being in 2023 plans: Ravichandran Ashwin
In a conversation with The Times of India, the senior player said that he does not think about things which are not in his hands. Ashwin said,
I don't think so because team selection is not my job. I decided long ago not to think about things that are not in my hands. I am in a really great place in terms of life and cricket and I try to keep negativity out of my thought process.
Despite not being in the running for a place in the tournament, Ashwin said he was hoping that India would win the World Cup again. They said,
I live for the day and I have no unfinished business. But it is true that I want India to win the World Cup again whether I am playing or not.
If we look at Ashwin's ODI career, then this tremendous off-spinner has taken 151 wickets at an average of 33.49 in the 113 matches he has played so far.
