On the occasion of India's 77th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort. Referring to history in his address on the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, PM Modi said that whatever decision the country takes today will affect India's fate for a thousand years to come.
Prime Minister Modi said in his address, 'This country was attacked 1000-1200 years ago. A small king of a small state was defeated, but it was not known then that one incident would entrap India in slavery for a thousand years and we went on being enslaved. He kept robbing us as he wished, he rode on us as he wished.
PM Modi said that the incident that happened in that opposite moment may be small, but its effect remained for a thousand years. The Prime Minister told that the heroes of India kept the flame of freedom burning even in this adverse situation and finally in 1947 the country became independent after thousand years of slavery.

Explaining the reason for mentioning this incident, Prime Minister Modi said, 'Today I am telling the matter of thousand years ago, because again an opportunity has come in front of the country. The steps we will take, the decisions we will take in the period in which we are living today, the golden history of the country for the coming one thousand years will sprout. The incidents happening during this period will have an impact on the coming thousand years.
In his address from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi said that in the last 9-10 years, I am experiencing that in the last 9-10 years, new attraction, new faith, new hope have arisen in the world towards India's consciousness and potential. PM Modi says that the world is seeing light in this light rising from India.
During this, PM Modi further said that we can show the way to the world with the legacy that our ancestors have given us. PM Modi said, 'We have demography, democracy, diversity and this Triveni has the potential to make every dream of India come true. That's why now we neither have to stop nor live in any dilemma. Remembering the lost heritage and prosperity, we have to take those decisions, which will determine the direction of the country for the next one thousand years.
