Onion will not make you cry, these steps of the government will give relief to the common man

Due to the increase in the prices of tomatoes as well as other vegetables and spices, the general public is crying foul. In such a situation, the prices of onions have also started increasing, and the government has started preparations so that onions do not make you cry.

The prices of tomatoes did not come down, on the contrary, onions also started becoming expensive. Yes, today if you go to the market to buy vegetables from home, you will get to see something similar. Just like the government has started selling tomatoes at a cheap price, in the same way, the central government has made complete preparations so that onions do not make you cry.

In view of the rising prices of onions, the central government has decided to release buffer stock. The government has a buffer stock of 3 lakh tonnes of onion, after releasing it in the market, onion prices can come down. At present, onion prices have reached Rs 50 to 60 per kg in the market. What is the plan of the rest of the government? Let's know…

Auction will be done through e-auction

Recently, when the prices of flour had increased wildly inside the country, then the government had released the buffer stock of wheat. These were given to mills and other FMCG companies. Now, in the same way, the government will issue buffer stock of onion in those states where onion prices have increased excessively.

This stock will be auctioned through e-auction. At the same time, the government is also planning to sell it on e-commerce platforms like ONDC. Arrangements are also being made to make onions available to the people at affordable prices through retail shops of state cooperative societies and government corporations.

New crop will come in October

65 percent of onion demand in the country is met by Rabi crop in April-June. This year, heavy rains ruined the crop in parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka, both of which are the largest onion producers in the country. Now the new crop will come in the market in the season of October-November. Then onion prices are expected to come down. In such a situation, the government's buffer stock is used to control onion prices in the country.

Fear of onion rot

The shelf life of onions is also less in the rabi season. If we add it from April, then this max lasts till August. Whereas due to rain this year, this shelf life has reduced further, the arrival of onion in the mandis is less. That's why the prices of onions have increased in the market.
